Privacy Policy
Last updated September 27, 2026
The short version
- Your sermon videos are yours. We store them privately so you can make clips, and delete them when you ask.
- Nobody at Sunday Studio watches your videos or reads your transcripts. Processing is automatic.
- We never use your videos, audio or transcripts to train AI models, and we don’t let the services we use train on them either.
- We don’t sell your information, show ads, or use tracking or analytics cookies.
This policy explains what information Sunday Studio collects when you use the hosted Sunday Studio service (the “Service”), how we use it, and the choices you have. Sunday Studio is operated by Clay McGranahan (“we”, “us”). The free, open-source Sunday Studio desktop app is covered at the end of this policy; it runs on your own computer and sends nothing to us.
What we collect
Account information
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile photo from Google. We use them to create your account and show who is signed in. We don’t receive your Google password or access to anything else in your Google account.
Content you upload and create
This includes the sermon videos you upload, the audio we extract from them, the transcripts we generate, any corrections you make, the clips you select, clip suggestions, framing and caption choices, and the clips we render for you (together, “your content”).
Technical information
Like any website, our servers receive basic request information such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages and features you use. Our hosting provider keeps these server logs for a short time for security and troubleshooting. We don’t use analytics or advertising tools, and we don’t build profiles of you.
Cookies
We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in, and a short-lived cookie that protects the sign-in process. We don’t use advertising, analytics or third-party tracking cookies.
Payment information
If you subscribe to a paid plan, payments are handled by our payment processor. We receive your billing details and subscription status, but never your full card number.
How we use your content
We use your content only to provide the Service to you:
- to store your videos and play them back to you;
- to transcribe the audio into a word-by-word transcript;
- to suggest clips when you ask, detect where the speaker is to keep them in frame, and render the clips you choose;
- to keep your projects available until you delete them.
All of this happens automatically. No person at Sunday Studio watches your videos, listens to your audio or reads your transcripts. We have no internal tool for viewing customer content. A person would only ever access your content if you ask us to for support (for example, to investigate a failed upload), or if the law requires it; in either case we access only what is needed.
We don’t train AI on your content
We never use your videos, audio, transcripts or clips to train, fine-tune or improve AI models, and we never sell or license them to anyone. The AI services we use to process your content are configured not to store it or train on it (see below).
Services that process your content for us
We rely on a small number of providers to run the Service. They process data only on our instructions and only to provide the Service.
| Provider | What they do | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Fly.io | Hosting, databases and processing servers | Your account data and content, stored and processed on our servers in the United States |
| Tigris Data | File storage | Your uploaded videos, thumbnails and rendered clips, stored privately |
| OpenRouter and the speech-to-text provider it routes to | Transcription | The audio of your sermon, in short segments, only while it is being transcribed |
| OpenRouter and the AI model provider it routes to | Clip suggestions, only when you ask for them | The transcript text and your search request. Never video or audio. |
| Sign-in | That you are signing in to Sunday Studio | |
| Our payment processor | Billing, for paid plans | Your billing details |
We only use AI providers that don’t train on the data sent to them, and we ask them not to keep it beyond what is needed to return a result. We will update this list if our providers change.
How long we keep things
- Your content stays in your account until you delete it, delete your account, or it reaches the end of your plan’s retention period for original videos.
- When you delete a project, its video, transcript, suggestions and rendered clips are deleted from our storage right away.
- When you delete your account, everything in it is deleted right away.
- Deleted data may remain in our encrypted database backups for up to 30 days before those backups expire.
- Server logs are kept for a short period, usually no more than 30 days.
- We keep billing records as long as the law requires.
Your choices and rights
- Download your rendered clips at any time.
- Correct your transcripts directly in the editor.
- Delete any project, or your whole account from the Account page.
- Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or for anything else about your data, by emailing [privacy contact email]. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or state privacy laws; we honor those requests.
Security
Your content is stored privately and is only reachable through short-lived, signed links issued to your signed-in account. Connections are encrypted, and access to our systems is limited to what is needed to run the Service. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we will tell you promptly.
People in your videos
Sermon recordings often show other people, such as worship teams, congregation members or children. You are responsible for having permission to upload and share recordings of the people in them, as your church normally would for streaming or social media.
Children
The Service is for adults acting for themselves or their church. We don’t knowingly create accounts for children under 13.
The desktop app
The open-source Sunday Studio desktop app runs entirely on your computer. Your videos, transcripts and clips stay on your computer and are never sent to us. If you choose to connect an AI service for suggestions, the app sends transcript text directly to the service you choose, under that service’s own terms.
Changes to this policy
If we make a meaningful change, we will update the date above and let you know by email or in the app before it takes effect. We will never change this policy to start training AI on your content or selling it.
